Private Collection, U.K.

It is likely that this was drawn on Lowry's visit to Ireland with Pat and Brian Cooke in 1970. Ireland and the Irish people were very dear to Lowry, and he visited the country on several occasions in the 1960's and '70's. It is typical of Lowry's sense of humour, that when confronted with the scenery, villages and coastline that Co. Dublin has to offer, that he chose to sketch a public convenience.
