An ivory okimono-style netsuke of Raijin and Raitaro on a conch shell
By Saneo, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
Comprising Raijin and his son Raitaro grappling with snakes, their lightning drums strapped over their backs, one snake emerging out of a large conch shell biting Raijin's jaw, a second snake encircling Raitaro and biting the top of his head, the eyes and drum studs inlaid; signed Saneo. 4.1cm (1 5/8in) long.
