Carbonaceous chondrite CBa
Yobe, Nigeria, Africa
Gujba fell in the small Nigerian village of Bogga Dingare on April 3rd, 1984. It is a witnessed fall which was accompanied by a fireball and sonic boom. Classified as a rare type of carbonaceous chondrite (CBa), Gujba is one of only seven meteorites with this classification. Visually, Gujba is one of the most appealing meteorites in existence with its large metal nodules, troilite, and cryptocrystalline silicate spheroids. The primitive characteristics of CBa chondrites, such as Gujba, make them valuable recorders of early nebular processes. The present full slice is expertly prepared and polished on one side. Weighing approximately 42.84 grams and measuring 63.5 x 63.5mm (2.5 x 2.5 in)
