Stony-iron pallasite

Displaying the only gemstone from outer space, the beautiful green olivine present in pallasites is identical structurally and chemically to Earth's peridot. Fortuitously discovered in Argentina in 1951 by a farmer digging a livestock pond, many collectors regard Esquel as the finest example of all stony-iron pallasites. The present specimen is a superb slice of this famous meteorite. Weighing 248 grams and measuring 107.95 x 101.6mm (4.5x 4 in)
