Large and Impressive Black Opal with Blue-Green-Orange Fire--"A Member of the 100 Carats Club"
Sheep Yard Opal Field, Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia
This sizable, free-form opal, large enough to occupy the center of one's palm, would create a stunning pendant. To the face, dramatic areas of vivid green and blue with touches of orange, play across the front and form a thick band of opal. To the reverse side black and grey potch, typical for the Lightning Ridge locality, is seen. A stunning opal from every direction and one which, due to its sheer size, provides a sense of tactile pleasure. Weighing approximately 224.1 carats and measuring 58.35 x 54.22 x 10.75mm
