Rare and Exceptional Color-change Pyrope-spessartine Garnet and Diamond Ring--"The Royal Chameleon"

East Africa
Unprecedented, extremely rare, and unique, the "Royal Chameleon" is an exceptional natural pyrope-spessartine color-change garnet which displays an exceptional "Alexandrite effect" of color change. The large size, brilliance and incredible clarity and luster place it in a category by itself in the realm of fine collector gemstones. The color changes from purplish brown in daylight to vivid pinkish red when viewed in incandescent light. This phenomenal gem is beautifully presented in a handmade platinum and 18K rose diamond ring exactingly fabricated in Europe. Any gem that changes color is a rare find and sought after by collectors. This particular gem species, rarely ever seen in sizes of larger than 2 to 3 carats, has been dubbed "The Royal Chameleon" in knowledgeable gem circles, as its size of over 25 carats, renders it an absolutely unique discovery. The documentation provided by SSEF underscores these exceptional qualities, size 6 1/2. Weighing approximately 25.81 carats and measuring 16.05 x 15.00 x 11.85mm

Footnotes

Accompanied by an SSEF bound certificate dated May 26, 2020 stating that the color-change garnet of 25.81 carats is a member of the pyrope-spessartine series that it shows no indications of treatment and that it originates from East Africa.

Together with an appendix letter no. 113530 stating: Exceptional Color-change garnet: "Royal Chameleon" The natural color-change garnet described in Test Report No. 113530 from the Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The described gemstone is set in a ring of artistic design together with a fine selection of colorless diamonds. The color-change garnet exhibits a remarkable size and weight of 25.81 carats (declared weight), combined with an excellent purity and an attractive color-change effect. The color changes from purplish brown in daylight to vivid pinkish red when viewed in incandescent light (e.g. tungsten lamp). This color-change effect is related to the presence of minor amounts of chromium and vanadium in this garnet of the pyrope-spessartine series. Based on these excellent qualities, the client named this color-change garnet "Royal Chameleon". Color-change garnets - including the gemstone described in this report - are mostly found in association with graphite-rich metasedimentary gneisses in East Africa, for example in Southern Kenya and Tanzania. These geological provinces are well-known for their exceptional wealth in attractive gemstones. In addition to the above-described qualities, the described gemstone has been spared exposure to any treatment and its color, color-change, and purity are thus entirely natural. A color-change garnet of this size and quality can be considered rare and exceptional.
