清 雍和宮風格 十八/十九世紀 六臂大黑天唐卡
This energetic composition depicts six-armed Shadbhuja Mahakala amid a busy scene filled with retinue deities, bodhisattvas, worldly protectors, and various birds and animals. The distinctive lotus base with pointy petals outlined with gold tendrils, and its placement within a blood-filled triangular platform are closely related to a Simhamukha thangka preserved in Yonghegong (Qi, Beautiful Thangka Paintings in Yonghegong, 2001, p.81). The painting also compares favorably to another Yonghegong-style Naro Dakini thangka with similar flame formations, lotus base, and scalloped clouds with thick, tri-colored outlines (see Bonhams, New York, 12-19 March 2021, lot 372).
