First introduced in December 2005, the Ref. 3712 with moon phases, a power-reserve indication and subsidiary seconds was the first complicated version of the Nautilus made by Patek Philippe, which previously only indicated the time and date. However, Ref. 3712 was soon discontinued in August 2006. With just nine months in production, it is considered one of the shortest-produced model from Patek Philippe in recent years. Its production was also rather low, an estimate of 1,700 pieces having been sold.
Although the Ref. 3712 was short-lived, two version of it were released. The earlier version has three small red dots on the power reserve scale whereas the later version has four. According to research, around 70 percent of the Ref. 3712 were made with three dots. Thus, the four dots version as the present lot is a rare iteration of the already rare reference, and the demand of it will only continue to grow in the future. The present watch is offered in great sharp condition with all of its original certificate, box and even a swing tag, making it a true trophy watch for the connoisseur.
