Rolex has been known to have strong connection with several military regiments, and the brand produces special editions for members of those units. The present watch is one of the 100 pieces specially made for British Special Air Service (SAS). First founded in 1941, the SAS is one of the most elite and respected military organizations in the world.

This special edition Explorer II was commissioned in 2012. The famous winged dagger badge and the regiment's name- 22 Special Air Service- are finely engraved on case back as well as the original owner's initials. "Who Dares Wins", motto of SAS is also engraved at the left side of the case.

In addition to the regiment's reputation, Rolex seldom accepts special commission nowadays, and just 100 pieces were made, the rarity makes this special edition Explorer II a highly sought after piece.
