The present Explorer II is from a limited commission where only 48 pieces were produced by Rolex for the British military's Attack Helicopter Regiment. The UK AH regiment of the British Army flies armed helicopter with offensive capability. At the time these watches were made, it was Apache AH1 that the regiment were flying. Thus an Apache helicopter is finely engraved on case back with the Union Jack flag in the background as well as issue number and the name of the officer who owned them. Only very few of the 48 pieces have been known to have surfaced for auction, the present watch (02/48), was offered to the longest serving member of the force, who had been flying the Apache since 1999. With the rarity and the special engraving on the back, it is without doubt a collector's delight.
