The initials EWS on the reverse of the mount refer to Ella Winter Stewart who was the driving force behind the ground-breaking 1969 Camden Arts Centre exhibition and also loaned works to the the 1974 Museum of African Art exhibition.
There were three "Untitled" watercolours by Salahi in the 1974 exhibition, nos 76, 77 & 78.
We are grateful to the artist for informing us that this work is not part of the series "By his will we teach birds how to fly". He confirms that it was painted in the same year (1969) as this series. He has asked that we offer the work with the title "Untitled". This was the same title that the work carried in the 1974 Washington exhibition.
