A George IV silver epergne / centrepiece

Matthew Boulton, Birmingham 1824
With four detachable acanthus scroll arms embellished with grapes, each open-work receiver supporting a glass bowl, flanking the central bowl and supported by six acanthus leaf scrolls issuing from a fluted column, the top of the base with gadrooned and leaf capped corners, each of the tapering sides with applied open-work scroll ornament panels between vertical husk bands, spreading stiff leaf and concave moulded bands below, on four large paw feet with scroll spandrels and flower head motif, with later glass bowls, height 45.5cm, weight 145oz.
