Footnotes

The reverse of the lock on the offered lot is stamped for Duvivier of 77, Faubourg St. Antoine, in Paris. The renowned Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine, which has historically served as the base for a number of important 18th and 19th century French cabinet makers, was the street upon which the locksmith Duvivier's business was located. Such locks by Duvivier have been discovered on furniture produced by Linke and Krieger. It is also interesting to note that the workshops of both the Linke and Zwiener firms were likewise established on this same road.
