A gold-mounted ivory and tortoiseshell automaton box

19th century, French
Circular, the cover set with miniature on ivory of an 18th century drawing room scene with an elegantly dressed lady in pink, the automaton movement raises her right arm so she appears to be crocheting, on the back of her seat is a green parrot with articulated head and wing, behind her, at a table, are a girl in blue and a young priest playing draughts, the automaton moving their hands on the board, on the wall is a clock with moving hand, glazed with a reeded and beaded gold mount, the ivory box with tortoiseshell stringing and interior, the tres-svelte four pillar movement activating moving parrot head and wing, hand of clock, sewing lady's arm, dice shaker held in hand of the man and game-piece sliding hand of lady competitor, with chain key, height 2.7cm, diameter 8.2cm.
