A 19th century gold and enamelled snuff box in the Louis XVI style

bearing two sets of marks for Eloi-Denis Thierry and for Paris 1787 but lacking a discharge mark, the miniature by Nicolas-André Courtois (French, 1734-1806)
Oval, the cover set with an oval enamelled miniature of a be-wigged gentleman in burgundy velvet coat, within a laurel and bell-husk frame on a purple translucent enamel ground over wavy engine-turning within a border of enamelled flowers and chased rosettes on a matted ground, the sides with ovoid purple enamel panels framed by enamelled flowers and separated by red enamelled pilasters, the base with similar purple enamel, length 8.2cm, weight all-in 202.5gms.
