A set of eight Irish parcel-gilt silver buttons for the Northern Rangers

Dublin, circa 1780
Circular, engraved with the title 'THE NORTHERN RANGERS' encircling a stag heightened in gilt, comprising:
three with marks for Bartholomew Delandre (one maker's mark only, one harp and hibernia, one harp struck twice)
One with marks for Arthur Keen, with harp and hibernia,
the remaining four with harp and hibernia marks only
, diameter 2cm. (8)

Footnotes

The Northern Rangers Hunt Club was founded in Dundalk in 1784 originally with twenty-five members

Please note for the online catalogue, the footnote should read: 'was founded in 1774 not 1784', the design of the button was agreed in December 1774.
