Political Interest: A rare George IV silver-gilt double-lidded presentation snuff box

Thomas Edwards, London 1820
Rectangular, the cover with a relief depiction of a Tiger Hunt with an elephant and horses, lifting to reveal a presentation plaque, dated 1831, the underside of the cover engraved with the same presentation inscription, engine-turned sides and base, length 10cm, weight 9.5oz.

The presentation inscriptions reads: "Lambeth/ Marsh and Wall Liberty, March 1831/ Presented to John Moore Esqr/ by a few Friends/ As a mark of sincere respect and gratitude/ for his able and manly conduct/ in boldly and successfully opposing the establishment/ of a/ Select Vestry in the parish/ Octr 22nd 1830,"
