Delivered to Camille Borghèse, married to Pauline Bonaparte, on 27 April 1809 for their palace in Rome
Don Camillo Filippo Ludovico Borghese (1775-1832) was born in Rome, the son of Marcantonio Borghese, 5th Prince of Sulmona. He married Napoleon's sister, Pauline Bonaparte, in 1803, after her first husband had passed away.
The service in the present lot was purchased for their palace in Rome and included amongst other pieces 120 plates, costing overall 13,336 francs. See Camille Leprince, Napoléon Ier & la Manufacture de Sèvres, (2016), no.126 for a full listing of the service.
