A BRASS MOUNTED EBONIZED STRIKING TABLE CLOCK
Signed Ellicott, London
Date: Third quarter 18th century
Movement: Shouldered plates engraved with foliage and scrolls enclosing signature, five knopped pillars, twin fusees with gut lines, verge escapement, spring suspended engraved disc pendulum, striking the hour on bell mounted above the plates, trip repeat for the hour
Dial: Signed square brass plate enclosing signed circular white enamel roman chapter disc, Arabic minute numerals, blued scroll hands, strike / silent at edge of plate adjacent X o'clock
Case: Inverted bell top with brass carrying handle, glazed side panels within brass fillets, brass mounted square hinged front panel with circular molded brass bezel enclosing dial, molded base on brass block feet
Size: 18 ½ in (47cm) high including handle
