A KAGA STYLE ARMOR

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
Comprising a bulbous six-plate suji kabuto with a forward-leaning four-stage plum-blossom tehen kanamono, the bowl finished with textured black lacquer, the slightly upturned mabizashi and the fukigaeshi lacquered grayish green in a textured surface, the four-stage shikoro lacquered to match the helmet and laced in sugake style, the bottom lame in brick red, adorned with a gilt-copper maedate formed as a crescent moon, the gold-lacquered-iron Reisei menpo with red-lacquer lips, applied with a boar-bristle mustache and fitted with a four-lame yodarekake, the cuirass a nimai yokohagi do, the muna-ita and waki-ita and the lowest horizontal plate finished in textured gold lacquer in Kaga style, fitted with six sections of five-lame kusazuri, each lame with a scalloped top edge, the lowest lame decorated to match the do, the chu-sode finished on the lowest lame in textured gold lacquer and applied with horse hair, the kote with chain mail and splint plates, the haidate constructed of small square plates with a central boss lacquered gold, with shino suneate, with an armor stand and one armor storage box
