A celadon and gray jade archaistic guang-form vessel and cover

Late Qing dynasty/20th century
Carved in the form of a recumbent water buffalo, the legs tucked under the body, the head lifted high, the skin carved in low relief with abstracted taotie masks and archaistic scrollwork, the horns, ears, and tail carved in the round, the stone pale green with passages of dark gray.
