Provenance
With Blue Leaf Gallery, Dublin, 23 June 2010, where acquired by the present owners
Private Collection, U.K.

Cook painted the present work in retaliation to the introduction of the smoking ban in pubs. As a former smoker herself Cook regarded the right to, as she put it, 'a fag and a drink' as a choice of the individual not government. The work was reproduced as a limited edition print and the central figure was used as the logo for Cook's 2011 retrospective at Bristol City Museum & Art Gallery.
