An oil or lacemaker's lamp, French or perhaps Liege, late 17th century

In façon de Venise type glass, the elongated ovoid bowl set on a hollow baluster stem with a circular drip pan, the applied hollow loop handle with a pincered thumbrest, on a domed foot folded at the rim, 23cm high

Footnotes

A very similar lamp is illustrated by W A Thorpe, A History of English and Irish Glass (1929), pl.VIII, fig.2 with the suggestion it may have been made in England by French workmen. It is perhaps more likely that this is a product of Liege.
