Philip Le Bas (British, b. 1925): The Savoy Theatre & The Strand Theatre,

both oil on panel, each signed P. Le Bas, the Savoy Theatre with the 1982 production Noises Off written by Michael Frayn; the Strand Theatre with the 1982 production The Real Thing, written by Tom Stoppard, each in metallic frame,
the larger 25 3/4in (65.5cm) square framed, (2)

Footnotes

In 2005 the Strand Theatre was renamed as the Novello theatre. The change honoured of actor Ivor Novello, who lived in a flat above the theatre from the 1910s until his death in 1951. Noises Off and The Real Thing both enjoyed celebrated runs on the West End and Broadway, each earning numerous Tony Award nominations and the latter winning for Best Direction in 1984.
