comprising thirteen gifts for Michael Codron, including a hand-painted commemorative plate from Alan Ayckbourn to Michael Codron for Bedroom Farce (2002), a paperweight for Amy's View from Judi Dench, commemorative plates for Comic Potential (1999), Me and My Girl (1985), Quartet (1999), and Dinner (2003), commemorative bowls and ashtrays for Otherwise Engaged (1975), Ten Times Table (1977), Joking Apart (1979), and Salad Days (1996), together with a small hallmarked silver dish for Crown Matrimonial (1972), a teapot for Henceforward (1988),

Footnotes

The present group of eclectic First Night gifts is a testament to Michael Codron's enduring popularity as a leading West End producer. Writers such as Alan Ayckbourn, and lead actors such as Judi Dench, commissioned bespoke hand-painted gifts to thank Codron after a play's premiere. The gifts adorned Sir Michael's main office at the Aldwych Theatre, London.
