Otherwise Engaged was written by Simon Gray and opened at the Plymouth Theatre, New York, on the 2nd February 1977. Having transferred from the Queen's Theatre, London, the Broadway production saw Tom Courtenay as 'Simon', and Caroline Lagerfelt as 'Beth'. The play was nominated at the 1977 Tony Awards® in the Best Play and Best Actor categories.
