A Meissen 'Cris de Paris' figure of a poultry seller, circa 1755

Modelled by Peter Reinicke, wearing a black hat, purple coat and yellow breeches, a basket with eggs on his right arm, his head turned to the left and holding two dead birds in his left hand, the base moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and flowers, 14.5cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to the rear of the base, impressed numeral 8. (restoration to hat, right arm and egg basket and to right wing of chicken)
