A pair of Meissen figural salts depicting Turks, circa 1745

Modelled by J.F. Eberlein, the kneeling gentleman wearing a brown hat, yellow-lined puce coat with the tails tucked into a striped sash, a flower-decorated tunic and red slippers, the seated lady wearing a yellow hat, puce jacket, flower-decorated tunic, purple pants and yellow slippers, each with an oval basket-moulded bowl reserved with panels painted with flower sprigs, the bases applied with leaves and flowers, 16.4cm and 17cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue to edges of bases (both heads restuck, some further restoration) (2)
