A late 19th century French gilt brass repeating carriage clock with Limoges enamel panels

The reeded handle over glazed moulded top panel, corner columns and a stepped base, the front and side panels hand decorated in Limoges enamel in many colours on a rich purple ground, the left depicting a lady with headpiece, ruff and courtly jewellery, the right a matching gentleman, the Roman dial with an all over pattern of foliate scroll work in the Renaissance style and fleur-de-lys hands, the silvered lever platform escapement with bimetallic balance, striking the hour and half hour and repeating the hour on a gong.
