A fine mid 19th century ENGRAVED GILT BRASS STRUT TIMEPIECE

Thomas Cole, for Barry, London, No. 1305.
The rectangular case with hinged suspension loop set on open shoulders over engraved sides terminating in shaped feet, the underside set with a rotating support engraved with running flowerheads on a hatched background within a line border, the three inch silvered Roman dial with strapwork-engraved centre against a hatched background of further strapwork and foliage, in a shaped gilt floral mask, with fine original blued steel hands, the movement with rectangular plates and going barrel, with vertical lever escapement with plain steel three arm balance. The rear of the case signed 'THOS. COLE - for - BARRY LONDON' with integral winding key. The case numbered to the underside.
