A Composite Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Second Quarter Of The 18th Century

With double-edged blade cut with three fullers over each side of the forte, the central fuller on both sides with 'XX' mark, and with a running wolf mark on one side beyond, iron hilt of slender rounded bars framing rectangular and ovoidal panels pierced with stylised hearts and circles, the side-bars each above a ram's horn, fore-guards, short scrolled wrist-guard, compressed bun-shaped pommel with button, and spirally-grooved leather-covered grip between brass ferrules
