An English Silver-Mounted Hunting Hanger
Retailed By Cullum, Charing Cross, London Silver Hallmarks for 1770, Indistinct Maker's Mark

With slender curved fullered blade (areas of old rust patination) double-edged towards the point, cast and chased hilt comprising quillon-block with a Classical trophy on each side, recurved quillons each with hound's head tip, hound's head pommel formed in the round and surmounted by a prominent button, swelling ivory grip chequered between trellised silver ribbon binding, and silver knuckle-chain, in original wood-lined scabbard (lower third missing) covered in tooled brown leather with silver locket and suspension mount, the former chased with a Classical trophy on one side, and pricked with retailer's details on the other, the latter chased with foliage, and each with a ring for suspension
