A Brass-Mounted Shamshir
Early 19th Century, Probably Continental

With curved watered single-edged blade etched with cabalistic symbols on both sides of the forte, mameluke hilt comprising quillon-block with pointed langets and quillons with bud-shaped terminals, brass grip, and rounded dark horn grips, the pommel with brass-lined piercing for a sword-knot, in original wooden scabbard covered in black leather (some damage) with plain brass locket, chape, and rounded suspension mounts, the latter each carrying a ring for suspension
