A Cased Flemish Flintlock Blunderbuss-Pistol With Spring Bayonet
Early 19th Century, Probably Liège

With barrel and action in one piece, the former turned and belled at the muzzle and fitted with folding bayonet beneath, a later horn-tipped ramrod on the right, the border engraved action decorated with a differing martial trophy on each side, ring-neck cock, thumbpiece safety-catch also locking the steel, sliding trigger-guard engraved with a starburst, and figured rounded butt sparsely inlaid with silver wire scrolls, chequered down the back, and with a raised oval on both sides with silver wire inlay (steel parts with some pitting): in later lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including brass-mounted cylindrical powder-flask, the exterior of the lid with folding drop handle; together with a pair of brass-mounted decorative flintlock pistols in 18th century style (3)
