A North European 25-Bore Flintlock Pistol
By Petitjean, Late 18th Century, Possibly German

With twist two-stage sighted barrel with octagonal breech, border engraved tang grooved for sighting, signed flat bevelled lock, figured full stock in English taste carved in relief with a shell behind the barrel tang and inlaid with fine silver wire scrollwork along the back of the rounded butt, border engraved steel mounts decorated with foliage and comprising shaped flat side-plate, rounded pommel-cap decorated with a quiver and foliage, trigger-guard in the French taste and decorated en suite on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, blued trigger and retaining screw heads, and horn-tipped ramrod with iron worm
