With damascus twist octagonal sighted polygroove rifled barrels (one with small areas of pitting) each inlaid in gold '..DAMAS DE PARIS..' within a silver line panel between graduated gold and silver foliate ovals, the breeches with decorative gold and silver lines, tangs each with back-sight and engraved with foliage highlighted in gold and silver, border engraved detented back-action locks and hammers decorated with foliage, the former each highlighted with small gold dots and silver lines, figured half-stocks with rounded butts each carved with laurel chequering, fore-ends (one with minor old crack) each carved in relief with lion-mask, turned oval ebony pommels each with white-metal butt-trap with hinged silver cover cast and chased with a Herculean mask, case-hardened spur trigger-guards en suite with the locks, blued adjustable set triggers, shield-shaped vacant gold escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and no provision for ramrods: in original brass-bound veneered wooden case fitted and lined in plum velvet with full accessories including white-metal powder-flask embossed with a stag within strapwork on both sides, the exterior of the lid with ovoidal brass plate incorporating a flush-fitting brass carrying handle, Liège proof
