Rebuilt from flintlock, with blued swamped octagonal sighted multi-groove rifled barrels (some loss of finish) each signed along the top flat, case-hardened breeches, border engraved tangs each with adjustable back-sight and decorated with a sword and laurel branches surmounted by a close-helmet, signed border engraved flat detented locks each with foliate engraved hammer, highly figured full stocks carved with beaded borders and foliage, the latter behind each lock, side-flat and bordering the pommel, butts with unusually chequered panel on each side, mounts comprising trigger-guards each engraved with a Classical warrior on the finial and with a Classical trophy on the border engraved bow, blued butt-caps each applied with a cast, pierced and chased Medusa-head, turned and fluted ramrod-pipes, the rear ones each with terminal engraved en suite with the trigger-guard, vacant shield-shaped silver escutcheons and border engraved barrel-bolt escutcheons, adjustable set triggers, original steel ramrods each with threaded faceted silver tip, and some original finish: in original mahogany case (lid with slender old split) fitted and lined in red velvet with full accessories including powder-flask embossed with a cupid and stag on both sides
