Lalaounis created a number of jewels inspired by prehistoric artefacts in a series of jewels and objets d'art called, 'The Dawn of Art', in which this suite of jewellery was conceived. The design derives from a copper tool dating to the Bronze Age. See Lalaounis, I. 'Metamorphoses', 1984, p. 28-9, ill.p.38, fig.18.
