GEOGRAPHY - MANUSCRIPT TREATISE
Footnotes
Comprehensive treatise on the physical, political and religious geography of Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, datable through a mention of the 1756 Battle of Minorca but no references to Australasia and Cook's voyages. The author covers techniques for using maps, as well as describing terrestrial and celestial globes with reference to Bion's Usage des globes.
China is described as a "vastissima regione", while the section on the Americas opens with mention of Vespucci and Columbus before discussing commerce in cocoa, tobacco and precious metals, "la Nuova Francia, l'America Inglese, la Florida, il vechio e nuovo Messico e la California". A brief section covers "una parte del mondo poco o nulla conosciuto", the polar regions.
