Footnotes

ONE OF ONLY SIX COPIES WITH ORIGINAL HAND-COLOURING, FROM AN OVERALL EDITION OF 25, of one of Ralph Chubb's rarest and most lavishly produced works. These hand-coloured copies were published at £18.18s., whilst the uncoloured copies were £15.15s., both extraordinarily high prices.

"One night (while my body lay asleep) I penetrated in a vision of the spirit... from whence I beheld the glorious figure of the sunchild...". Influenced by William Blake, Arthurian legend and the Uranian poets of the fin-de-siecle Chubb interweaves word and verse in his investigation of the "man child".
