HAYDN (JOSEPH) Dr Haydn's VI Original Canzonettas, for the Voice with an Accompaniment for the Piano-Forte [Hob XXVIa:25], FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY THE COMPOSER ON THE TITLE-PAGE ("Haydn"), 31 pages, engraved throughout [Hoboken, ix (1991) 1525; Hirsch, iii 799; RISM H 2656], for the Author & Sold by him at No.1 Bury Street, St James's, [1794], bound with 31 other engraved scores, contemporary reversed half calf over marbled boards, red morocco gilt label lettered "K.M.M. Saunders. Songs Vol. II" on upper cover, rubbed, folio (330 x 235mm.)

SIGNED BY HAYDN WITH HIS CHARACTERISTIC PARAPH: a collection of the composer's six English songs, which he issued from his lodgings in London during his last visit to England in 1794. The score is bound with 31 other works, including compositions by Haydn ("Six Original Canzonettas for the voice..", Dublin, Hime, [1796]), Handel (4), Thomas Philipps (6), J.A. Stevenson (3), all published c.1794 to 1803.

Provenance: Katherine M.M. Saunders, gilt lettered morocco label on upper cover, and ink name at head of several of the scores.
