A Roman purple glass pine cone-shaped bottle
Circa second half of 1st Century A.D.
The body mould-blown in the form of a naturalistic pine cone, with narrow, rounded base, cylindrical neck and flared mouth, 10.8cm high

For another pine cone-shaped bottle cf. E. Marianne Stern, The Toledo Museum of Art, Roman Mold-Blown Glass, Toledo, 1995, no. 111. The shape suggests that the bottle may have held an oil with a pine scent.
