Footnotes

Provenance:
Mr and Mrs A. Constable-Maxwell collection, UK.
The Constable-Maxwell Collection of Ancient Glass; Sotheby Parke Bernet, London, 4-5 June 1979, lot 42.
with Antiquarium Ltd, New York.
Private collection, USA, acquired from the above 17 December 1986.

The marbling on this bottle is unusual in that two opaque white flattened ribbons have been applied in vermicular fashion, folded back on themselves and been marvered flush; this unusual method places this bottle between colour-band bottles and blown marbled bottles.
