A Cypriot bichrome ware amphora
Iron Age, circa 750-475 B.C.
With bands of umber around the rim and neck flanking a wider red band, the belly decorated with four concentric circle motifs on each side between arched handles, the body with further encircling horizontal bands, loose brush strokes extending from the base of each handle, an inscription on the underside in black ink reading 'S.R. 9888/80', 27.5cm high
