Orson Welles woos a fellow celebrant at the Count Beistegui Ball in Venice. An international ball to end all such balls, Count Beistegui's was held in his Venetian palace on September 3, 1951. Guests came from all over Europe with custom-made eighteenth-century costumes. I got in by crashing, and then wore a domino robe that was provided for photographers...The whole scene really outdid Hollywood.
