Alistair Graham was a Kenyan wildlife biologist with a speciality in crocodiles and their habitats. In early 1970 whilst preparing for a February trip to Kenya, Steinberg contacted Graham about the best place to see crocodiles. Steinberg was greatly interested in crocodiles, not as a biologist but as an artist; to him crocodiles were a "symbol of danger" and appeared frequently in his work in the form of a rubber stamp. This present work was a gift to Graham in thanks for his advice.
