the dial signed for Sam(uel) Pitts, London
the caddy top above a pierced scrolling sound grill with twin brass orb and spire finials, the hood with half columns to the corners below a similar sound grill , the trunk with panelled door with bird and floral vase decoration and circular lenticle, on corresponding moulded stepped plinth base, the 12'' square brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring and scrolling grotesque mask head spandrels, the matted centre with twin turned winding holes, subsidiary Arabic seconds below twelve and date aperture above six, the brass four pillar twin train movement with anchor escapement, striking on a bell, with case key, pendulum, winding crank and twin weights, 238cm high approximately
