One of the distinctive characteristics of a Harry Winston jewel is the remarkable lightness of the settings where the precious metal supporting the stones is kept to an absolute minimum. This is a key feature of the present lot, which dates to the 1990s. Inspired by a simple Christmas wreath in which the supporting wires were barely visible and clusters of leaves glistened with snow at different angles, Harry Winston sought to develop light platinum settings that would maximise the brilliance of the diamonds and minimise the supporting framework. With a legacy spanning almost ninety years, the firm maintains this philosophy to this day. Having acquired, cut, sold and donated some of the world's most important diamonds, the brand is known for sourcing rare and fine gems and has remained steadfast in its commitment to the integrity of the most exceptional stones.

Jacques Timey was a Swiss jeweller and his distinctive maker's mark, seen on this Harry Winston necklace, was registered on 17th January 1966.
