The Friendly Hunt was a Worcestershire meet probably connected with a Jacobite society in Worcester known as The Friendly Association. Founded in 1747, the Association met annually in rotation in the neighbouring towns of Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Stourbridge. A similar firing glass from The Ron and Mary Thomas Collection was sold by Bonhams on 4 June 2008 and is illustrated by Geoffrey Seddon, The Jacobites and Their Drinking Glasses (1995), p.120, pl.86 and by Arthur Churchill, History in Glass (1937), pl.20, no.92. Together with the present lot only a handful of other examples exist including one in the Victoria and Albert Museum (accession no.
