Provenance
Sotheby's sale, 23 July 1985, lot 61
James and Timmey Challenger Collection, Chicago

Illustrated with a replacement cover by Vic Schuler, British Toby Jugs (1st Edn, 1986), p.35 and Collecting British Toby Jugs (3rd Edn, 1999), p.70 with a discussion at p.28. According to Schuler (1999) this is one of only three known examples recorded at the time of writing. The model bears a strong similarity to the 'Wineskin' Toby illustrated by Captain R K Price, Astbury, Whieldon and Ralph Wood Figures, and Toby Jugs (1922), pl.LVII, no.127.
